Meerkat has officially launched for Android users, according to TechCrunch. The live-streaming application and competitor of Twitter's (NASDAQ: TWTR) Periscope is available in "beta" in the Google Play (NYSE: GOOGL) store and, according to early testing, is functioning, for the most part, on par with the iOS version. Periscope is currently available on iOS, however, Meerkat beat the Twitter-owned live streaming app to the punch when it comes to Android, TechCrunch reported. Reportedly, Periscope developers are working on an Android version of the app, however, it remains unclear when it will be released.
