Oops! Have you ever wished you could delete an email after you sent it? A few months ago, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) unveiled a tool that made this dream a reality. With it, the user can “unsend” an email up to 30 seconds after it was sent. However, with a new Google Chrome plug-in compatible with Gmail, a user can now set up a time frame in which the email will be deleted. This way, sensitive or personal information is better protected. When the user is ready to send the email, next to the traditional “send” button will be a “send with DMail” button. Once selected, the user can choose a time, for example, 1 hour, until the email will “self destruct.” Further, according to CNN Money, Google is planning on releasing a similar feature that does not let designated emails be forwarded to others, taking personal security one step further. In terms of personal security, this addition to the Gmail setup is a step forward. Sensitive information is sent through Gmail daily, and making the process a little more safe by adding a feature like DMail may mean the difference between getting hacked or not.
