Google X (NASDAQ: GOOG) labs has created a health monitoring wearable suitable for clinical trials, according to Bloomberg. The wearable, which is not available for commercial use, measures statistics like pulse, heart rhythm and skin temperature. According to Bloomberg, both Apple and Google have health-focused wearables available for consumer use, however, none are powerful enough for clinical trials or medical research. “Historically, doctors do everything -- patients just need to turn up at the trial site,” said Kara Dennis, managing director of mobile health at Medidata, a New York-based firm that specializes in data analytics, Bloomberg reported. “Now, we’re asking patients to take on meaningful responsibility in gathering information."
